DISGRACED Eagle Ben Cousins is sunning himself in Sydney as he prepares for the fight of his career.

The sacked AFL star is hiding out in the northern seaside suburb of Manly, where the footy code of choice is rugby league.

On the day that all criminal charges against him were formally scrapped, Cousins declared he "absolutely" wanted to play footy next season.

His future hinges on an AFL Commission hearing next week in Melbourne, at which Cousins will answer a charge of bringing the game into disrepute.
