Cousins, who yesterday had a final charge against him dropped by WA police, remains undecided as to whether to defend himself in person against the allegation that he has brought the game into disrepute.
The 29-year-old has told his legal team he was on legal medication when arrested in Perth's nightclub district last month. He has claimed he was taking drugs for depression and attention deficit disorder.
Although the AFL charged Cousins before his recent alleged five-day cocaine bender in California, the player could also claim his cocaine use was exaggerated and that his hospitalisation came as a result of an emotional breakdown.
