Nick Davis Biography

Wednesday, 10 June 2009
The Sydney Swans and their 2005 premiership hero Nick Davis are in a potentially explosive dispute over his parting with the club.

Davis is seeking a financial settlement believed to be about $200,000 with any payout needing to be recorded by the Swans in their salary cap.

Nick Davis flies to the US for what he hopes will be the next stage in his professional football career.

Following the success of former AFL players such as Darren Bennett, Ben Graham and Sav Rocca as punters with NFL franchises, Davis is looking to be the next Australian to break into the American game and will attend a number of try-outs with NFL teams during his stay.

Carlton chief executive Greg Swann criticizes Swans forward Nick Davis saying that Davis is "not a great bloke".

Swann's comments came following questions on whether Carlton would be interested in recruiting Davis who has had limited opportunities at Sydney.

"Not in a million years. I had a bit to do with him in a past life. He's not a great bloke. We don't need him at our club," Swann said.

Sydney Swans CEO Myles Baron-Hay asks for Swann to issue an apology for his comments while Swans coach Paul Roos is also critical of Swann.

"I think that is inappropriate for a CEO of another footy club. Maybe if Greg had his time over again I wouldn't have thought he would say something like that because Nick is a really likeable kid. He is a good kid who wouldn't harm anyone. I am very disappointed to hear Greg say that," Roos said.
