North Melbourne informs Nathan Hrovat that he will not be offered a new contract beyond 2019.

Hrovat said he would look back fondly on his time at North Melbourne despite his delisting.

"North Melbourne is a very, very special place. I think they just personify that hardworking sort of culture and that's exactly the way I'll look back on it," Hrovat said.

"I know it's sort of thrown out in the media at times about how we have that 'Shinboner' culture and we're unique. I genuinely do think North Melbourne is a unique place to be."

North Melbourne secures Western Bulldogs midfielder/forward Nathan Hrovat in a deal that also saw future draft picks exchanged between the two clubs.

In the deal North Melbourne gained the 22-year-old Hrovat as well as the Western Bulldogs' future third and fourth round pick while the Dogs took North Melbourne's future third and fourth round selections.

“We see a tremendous amount of upside in Nathan and are rapt to have him at North,” Roos football manager Cameron Joyce said.

“He has great skills and the ability to play through the midfield and up forward which offers us great flexibility.”

Carlton is one of several clubs interested in talented out-of-contract forward Nathan Hrovat as he weighs up his future following the Western Bulldogs' premiership on Saturday.

The 22-year-old has had no luck with injury since making his debut with the Bulldogs in round nine, 2013 and has been restricted to just 30 games in his first four seasons.

He played just four games this season after suffering foot and shoulder problems and, despite starring against Essendon in the VFL semi-final, was unable to play in the team's VFL premiership because of his shoulder.

Nathan Hrovat spends the night in hospital after fracturing a rib during the Bulldogs' NAB Challenge match against Richmond.

Bulldogs football manager Graham Lowe said the young midfielder's condition would be managed throughout the NAB Challenge series.

"Nathan sustained a rib injury during the game and we need to make sure that we manage that appropriately," Lowe told the club's website.

"So we're going to manage his contact (training) through until about NAB (Challenge game) three and then we'll reassess him at that point and determine when he's available to come back fully into playing and training."

Nathan Hrovat is the round 17 rising star nominee after gathering 27 disposals, taking five marks and kicking a goal in the Bulldogs' 28-point win over Gold Coast in Cairns.

"It gives you confidence knowing that you can perform like that at AFL level," Hrovat said.

"It's been really good with the coaching staff - and with 'Gia' (Daniel Giansiracusa) and 'Dal' (Luke Dahlhaus) - we have an emphasis down at the Doggies just to play your role.

"No-one asks anything more of you and I think when you can do that, the rest just takes care of itself."

Nathan Hrovat is expected to be fit for the start of the season despite a minor fracture to his right cheekbone.

Nathan Hrovat has signs a contract extension with the Bulldogs that will see him stay at the club until at least the end of 2016.

"We've been impressed with the professional habits and work ethic Nathan has formed in his young career to date," Western Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said.

"Not only does he have a strong desire to get better, Nathan has a way of bringing his young teammates along with him.

"While he is only seven games into his senior career, we are really confident Nathan will be an important player for us into the future."

Nathan Hrovat makes his AFL debut for the Western Bulldogs at Docklands Stadium with 19 disposals (11 kicks and 8 handballs), 4 marks, 4 tackles and a goal in a 9-point win over St Kilda.

Despite countless junior honours, Bulldogs draftee Nathan Hrovat says he still has plenty of room for improvement.

Hrovat's honours include All Australian selection, the MVP award for Vic Metro, third place in the TAC Cup's Morrish Medal (despite playing just eight games), the rover's spot in the TAC Cup Team of the Year, along with the Northern Knights' captaincy and best and fairest award.

"There are so many things I want to develop and get better at," Hrovat said.

"I need to work on my spread away from contests, trying to get the overlap handball, breaking some lines with my running, helping out my teammates, putting on some blocks, getting to the fall of the ball, getting to the right spots, reading the game a bit better, kicking a few more goals ..."
