Jordie McKenzie Biography

Friday, 18 September 2015
Melbourne delists Jack Fitzpatrick as part of four list changes it announced on Friday.

Fitzpatrick joins Aidan Riley, Rohan Bail and Jordie McKenzie as those to be let go, as the Demons continue down the path of aggressively reshaping their list.

"All four players have had to overcome adversity at different stages through their careers and during their time at Melbourne," Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"All four players had limited appearances at AFL level this year, but they were all consistent players for Casey Scorpions and we appreciate the effort they put in at VFL level and how it assisted the development of our younger players.

"They have all contributed right to the end of their time at Melbourne and we thank them for their contribution and wish them all the best for the future."

Melbourne interim coach Neil Craig praises the efforts of Jordie McKenzie in restricting Gold Coast star Gary Ablett's output to just 19 possessions.

"We all know where Gary stands in the competition, and the history of the competition for that fact," Craig said.

"Jordie McKenzie is a very determined, disciplined young man. I thought his teammates as well, maybe for the first time since I've been at the footy club, have joined in to help there."

Monday, 19 July 2010
Melbourne's Jordie McKenzie says he is continuing to learn after performing a fantastic shut-down job on David Mundy on Sunday.

"It's the best type of training to go out there up against these types of fellas who are the elite in the competition," he said.

"They show you why they are the elite so by going with them you learn all the little things that they do that makes them good.

"I don't want to be too negative in the midfield and it's an important area to try and hurt them when we do have the footy rather than being all one way. It was good to get off him at times and get a little bit of my own footy."
