Simon Garlick Biography

Friday, 11 October 2019
Fremantle appoints former Sydney and Western Bulldogs midfielder Simon Garlick as its new chief executive.

Garlick was the chief executive of the Bulldogs between 2010-15, and more recently was chief executive of Bastion EBA, an independent marketing, communications and commercial agency.

"While the Fremantle Football Club has a relatively short history in the AFL, the region is one of the richest football areas in Australia and the club's supporter base is as significant as it is passionate," Garlick said.

"The foundations have been laid by some great football people, and not just with regard to the history of the club. Fremantle play in a world class venue at Optus Stadium and the facilities at Cockburn are outstanding.

"My background and experience has helped me see and understand the importance of continuing to build a team ethos and culture, which will help deliver sustained success."

Monday, 19 January 2015
Simon Garlick resigns as CEO of the Western Bulldogs.

"The time is right for me to resign and start a new chapter in my life and career," Garlick said.

Bulldogs president Peter Gordon said Garlick had played an important role for the Bulldogs in a difficult period of their history.

"Under his leadership, the club has maintained membership levels through this period of indifferent on-field performance and he has maintained the economic position of the club through that difficult time," Gordon said.

Tuesday, 7 December 2010
The Western Bulldogs have found a replacement chief executive for Campbell Rose in former Sydney Swan forward Simon Garlick.

"He brings a high level of commercial acumen to the role, he has proved to be an outstanding candidate with ideal credentials to lead the organisation," club president David Smorgon said.

"The selection subcommittee felt that Simon's successful track record, his deep appreciation of our organisation and the wider AFL industry as a whole, combined with his determination and commitment to succeed placed him as the standout candidate."
