Patrick Naish Biography

Friday, 30 September 2022
Patrick Naish is delisted by West Coast after one season on their list.

Naish, 23, made a late move to Western Australia to secure a place on the Eagles' list as a Pre-Season Supplemental Selection.

The wingman, the son of former Tigers and Port Adelaide forward Chris, played 11 of the first 12 games of the season for West Coast before failing to break back into the side as the Eagles struggled, finishing 17th on the ladder.

West coast adds three new players to its list ahead of the 2022 season, signing former Docker Luke Strnadica, ex-Lion Tom Joyce and hard-running former Tiger Patrick Naish.

"We have obviously received an unusually high number of long-term injuries in the last few weeks and we needed to navigate a way through that to offer greater depth in a number of areas," list and recruiting manager Rohan O'Brien said.

"That also means we are able to provide opportunities for Luke Strnadica, Tom Joyce and Patrick Naish which is exciting. All three have been most impressive through this period with both their attitude and application and it is great to offer them another chance."

Richmond informs Patrick Naish that he will not be offered a contract for 2022.

"We would like to thank Patrick for his hard work and commitment to our football program across the past four years," Richmond general manager- football talent Blair Hartley said.

"Patrick has played his part in our recent success, and we wish him all the best for his future endeavours."

Friday, 7 June 2019
Patrick Naish makes his AFL debut for Richmond at the MCG with 20 disposals (15 kicks and 5 handballs), 5 marks, 2 tackles and a goal in a 67-point loss to Geelong.

Richmond drafts father-son pick Patrick Naish, son of Chris Naish, as expected, but had to match a bid from St Kilda to get him.

"We really liked him and there was a bit of romance around the father-son," Tigers recruiting manager Matthew Clarke said.

"In every grade and every team, he gets the job done. He’s a smart player who gets the footy and he puts a lot of defensive pressure on."

Wednesday, 1 November 2017
Richmond is a step closer to having its first father-son since 2003 after formally nominating Patrick Naish under the AFL's rules.

The Tigers have lodged the paperwork that will give them the power to match a bid for the midfielder in the 2017 AFL Draft.

Wednesday, 18 January 2017
Patrick Naish, a father-son prospect for the Tigers in 2017, says he has become accustomed to the thought of potentially being part of Richmond in the near future.

"Last year I got rid of the 'wow factor' and have viewed them as possible teammates. I forgot about their status in a way and focused on my own footy and my progress and getting the best out of myself while I am there," Naish said.

"I've got to know them on a really personal basis, including 'Dimma' (coach Damien Hardwick), and it's good to chat to them. They've said work on the things you need to, but don't forget the things you are good at and keep trying to make them elite."
