Easton Wood's prized 2016 premiership medal is stolen after a burglary at his address in Albert Park.

Wood also had a premiership watch taken, as well as his wife's great grandfather's identification tags from World War I.

"On Sunday night my wife, daughter and I returned home from isolating at my mothers (sic) property in the country to discover we had been robbed," Wood said on social media.

"We're heart broken (sic) and devastated to have lost our precious items that have immense sentimental value to us. Not to mention the sick feeling of having someone invade your home and go through all your personal items."

Ben Brown, Darcy Moore, Easton Wood and Adam Saad are among the group of players whose contract discussions have been paused indefinitely due to the escalating coronavirus crisis that has led to the suspension of the 2020 AFL season.

Marcus Bontempelli will captain the Western Bulldogs in 2020, taking the reins from Easton Wood who announced he was stepping down from the role after two years.

"We've been working together really closely over the last two years and watching him grow over that period it was obvious to me that it was time to step down and support him in his opportunity to lead the group," Wood said of Bontempelli.

"It was a tough decision but I'm incredibly proud and privileged to have had the opportunity to captain the club."

Easton Wood's season is likely over after scans confirmed a high-grade hamstring injury.
Friday, 15 June 2018
Easton Wood suffers what he believes to be a serious hamstring injury during the Bulldogs' 57-point loss to Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

"I've done a few (hamstrings) before and it felt like it was at the more significant end of the spectrum, but I certainly hope it's not off the bone," Wood said.

"Frustration (is the overriding feeling), considering I've done a few before, and there's that compounding element that I've done another one."

A fan who gave Western Bulldogs captain Easton Wood a smack on the bottom has been banned from attending AFL games at Adelaide Oval for the rest of the season.

The Adelaide Oval Sports Management Authority imposed the sanction on the Crows fan after examining vision from last Friday night's game between the Crows and the Bulldogs.

The supporter lent over the fence and made contact with Wood just before half-time.

Monday, 30 April 2018
Easton Wood will miss three weeks with a hamstring strain.
Thursday, 15 March 2018
Easton Wood says he will play predominantly as a forward in 2018 after spending most of his career as a defender.

"It's a great new challenge for me," Wood said of playing up forward.

"10 years in defence has given me the opportunity to have a front seat to some of the best forward play going around, so I'm hoping to emulate some of that.

"I've been working pretty hard on my (goal) celebrations."

Monday, 20 November 2017
Easton Wood is named captain of the Western Bulldogs for the 2018 season, with Marcus Bontempelli serving as vice-captain.

"To become the custodian of the group is something really special to me," Wood said.

"I've been here my whole adult life. I've grown up here. It's definitely special."

Jason Johannisen, Lachie Hunter, Jack Redpath and Jordan Roughead round out the six-man leadership group.

Monday, 7 August 2017
The Western Bulldogs will need to make the finals for Easton Wood to play again this season after scans revealed the star defender sustained a high-grade hamstring tear in the win over the Brisbane Lions.

"We've worked through a process which has included specialist opinion and we've decided that the best form of management will be conservative management, and that Easton does not require surgery," Bulldogs head physiotherapist Chris Bell said.

"We have started our rebab programming already and hope to have Easton running at the back end of this week."

Thursday, 20 July 2017
Easton Wood signs a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Bulldogs until the end of 2020.

"On the field his athleticism and intercept marking abilities are elite and he rarely gets beaten in a one-on-one contest," Bulldogs Jason McCartney said of Wood.

"He had big shoes to fill last season, stepping in as captain for Rob Murphy, and he couldn't have handled it better.

"He loves the club, and we're really pleased he's chosen to extend his contract this early."

Thursday, 2 March 2017
Amid celebrating the Western Bulldogs' first flag since 1954, premiership captain Easton Wood sent a text message to Dan Hannebery to check on the Sydney player's health after a sliding incident left the star midfielder injured.

Both players contested a loose ball in the opening minutes of the final term and Wood collided with Hannebery's left knee.

It left Hannebery hobbled with a medial ligament strain that meant he could not run for four weeks. He tried to return to the field in the decider after having the joint strapped but ultimately he was forced to spectate.

"Easton is a great guy and a sensational player. He messaged me two days after the Grand Final," Hannebery said.

"He was within his rights to still be celebrating for another six-to-eight weeks and not even think about it.

"It shows the calibre of the man and the culture the Bulldogs are creating. He got on the front foot and messaged me. Full credit to him, it shows the quality of the bloke and player he is."

Saturday, 11 February 2017
Easton Wood takes to Twitter during the telecast of the AFLW game between the Bulldogs and Adelaide to raise his concerns about the state of gambling advertising.

"Why – as an industry – do we support the onslaught of gambling advertising you're now faced with when watching an AFL game?" he wrote in the tweet.

"The obvious issue here is the effect this advertising has on children every time we pull on our boots. The big question is do we think the normalization of gambling – particularly to kids – is acceptable in this day and age?"

Sunday, 2 October 2016
Easton Wood says he was stunned after captaining the Bulldogs to premiership glory against the Swans.

"When that siren went, I've never been more unprepared emotionally for a moment in my entire life," Wood said.

"It was the finality of it that kind-of washed over and I realised that it's done - they can never, ever take that away."

Monday, 22 August 2016
Easton Wood is hopeful he'll play again this season after scans on his injured ankle revealed no bone damage.

Wood fell awkwardly during a spoil in the Bulldogs' win over Essendon, and will spend several days in a moon boot with a ligament injury.

"It's as good a news we could have hoped for (as) I don't have a break or any ruptured ligaments, which is great because I thought I was in a bit trouble" Wood said.

"(I) probably won't play this week because I have to wait to see how it settles down. I'm not sure of the timeframe just yet, but we're hoping it will be all right."

Friday, 29 July 2016
Easton Wood will play in his 100th AFL game this week.

After an inauspicious start to his AFL career, Wood is anything but low profile these days as an All Australian defender and acting captain of the finals-bound Western Bulldogs.

Injuries and self-doubt delayed his rise to prominence, but overcoming those obstacles have made him who he is today.

"It's certainly been an interesting journey with its ups and downs, but I'm really proud to notch up the milestone," he said.

"There were plenty of doubts and plenty of times when I thought the writing was on the wall and it could be all over, but I guess every player faces that sometime during their career.

"Those problems go a long way to shaping who you are, toughing you up and making you a better player."

Sunday, 24 January 2016
Marcus Bontempelli looms as the next captain of the Western Bulldogs after he was elevated to club's leadership group in just his third season in the AFL.

The 20-year-old has shown great maturity across his 37-career games and was voted in by his teammates to support re-elected skipper Robert Murphy, new vice-captain Easton Wood and veterans Matthew Boyd and Dale Morris.

Murphy said he was delighted to retain the captaincy in the knowledge the up-and-coming Dogs had plenty of young leaders waiting in the wings.

"It’s an honour to lead the club, it’s been an honour of mine to play for the club for a long time,” Murphy said.

"They’re (Wood and Bontempelli) high quality people, great players, and I think they really capture a lot of the spirit of the team and the club at the moment."

Wednesday, 7 October 2015
Easton Wood caps off a stunning breakout season by winning the Western Bulldogs' best and fairest award.

Entering the season on a one-year deal, the rebounding defender quickly established himself as one of the Dogs' most important players and finished the year with a three-year contract extension, All Australian honours and his first Charles Sutton Medal.

The 26-year-old picked up 268 votes to finish a clear winner ahead of skipper Robert Murphy (229) and second-year sensation Marcus Bontempelli (226).

"I never envisaged I'd have the honour of achieving this," Wood said.

"I truly love this club with every inch of my heart, I'm truly proud to be a part of it and I can guarantee you going forward I'll get every inch out of myself."

Thursday, 16 April 2015
Less than seven months after he re-signed for the 2015 season, Easton Wood re-signs with the Western Bulldogs again, this time for another three years.

"Towards the end of last year there was just some concerns – both my own and the club's – about how my body was going to hold up," Wood said.

"Previously to that deal I'd had a vast array of injuries, hamstring injuries had kept me out for the season before, so at that point signing a one-year deal we felt was just a bit better to make sure I could prove the fitness of my body and make sure that I was worth a three-year deal.

"I'm just rapt that that's come through and played out that way.

"I'm just absolutely rapt to get it out of the way this early in the year and to be locked up for the next few years."

Thursday, 25 September 2014
Easton Wood signs a new deal with the Western Bulldogs that will see him remain at Whitten Oval until at least the end of season 2015.

"Easton hasn't had a lot of luck with injury in the early part of his career, but showed some durability and promise this season," Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said.

"We were particularly encouraged with how Easton thrived with some additional on-field responsibility, and we look forward to that continuing next season."

Tuesday, 12 August 2014
Easton Wood will miss the remainder of the season after scans revealed he broke his hand in the Bulldogs' win over St Kilda.

The 24-year-old injured his right hand in the final term during a marking contest.

"Wood will have surgery later today to stabilise the area, and will now look towards returning fit for pre-season training," the cub's medical services manager Andrew McKenzie said.

"Wood has unfortunately sustained a broken hand in Sunday's game and it was determined surgery was the best course of action."

Tuesday, 1 April 2014
Easton Wood says he wants to remain at the Western Bulldogs and finish his career as a one-club player.

"Without a doubt I'd love to," Wood said.

"My focus at the moment is to play consistent footy. Last year I was injured a lot, so I'm sure I'd like to get a few more games under my belt, and the club would like to see that as well, to see that I can be reliable."

Sunday, 25 November 2007
Cricketer Easton Wood is a surprise selection by the Bulldogs with pick 43 of the 2007 national draft.

Wood did not participate in the TAC cup, choosing instead to try out for the Victorian cricket squad.

"I was going well, but got cut in the last round. My back started to go and I struggled with cricket and had to just bat. But I managed my back through the footy season and had a couple of good games," Wood said.
