Josh Hill Biography

Monday, 30 October 2017
Josh Hill believes he has several seasons of good AFL football left in him and is hoping a club in the market for a ready-made small forward will throw him a lifeline.

"Players like Partington and Karpany were playing very good footy in the WAFL and they got their opportunities, which they earned, but it made it hard for me and the other forwards to crack into the side," Hill said.

"I feel like I've still got a few more good years left but things happen that are not really what you expect.

"But you take it on the chin and hope that there's an opportunity somewhere else. As I said, I believe I still have a lot to offer and an opportunity is all I need, really."

West Coast delist Sharrod Wellingham, Josh Hill, Tom Lamb and rookies Tom Gorter and Jordan Snadden.

West Coast has now made 12 list changes as the club embarks on an aggressive turnover of what was the AFL's oldest playing group this year.

Wednesday, 26 August 2015
West Coast trio Sharrod Wellingham, Josh Hill and Fraser McInnes have all re-signed as the Eagles look to sustain the success they have had in 2015.

Eagles football manager Craig Vozzo told the club's website that the trio were important part of the club's plans over the coming seasons.

"We believe we have the nucleus of an exciting list and Sharrod, Josh and Fraser are all important players on that list," Vozzo said.

"They have each played an important role in what we have so far achieved this year and they will be integral to the long-term plan of sustained success, so it's exciting to have them extend their commitment to the club."

Now in the final year of his contract with the Eagles, Josh Hill says he will work hard to ensure that he remains at the club next year.

"Just knowing it's there, I want to play as much footy as possible," Hill said.

"This is my last year (on contract) and I want to try and make an impact and build from that and show the club that I'm keen to stay and do whatever it takes."

As the only Eagle to represent the Indigenous All Stars in their clash against West Coast, Josh Hill says he doesn't expect his Eagles teammates to go easy on him.

"I don't think they'll be holding back against me," Hill said.

"I saw the boys this morning. I copped a bit of slack, a bit of lip from the boys. I'm looking forward to it."

Thursday, 6 December 2012
West Coast forward Josh Hill says he is already feeling the pressure to improve as goalkickers Mark LeCras and Mark Nicoski plot their returns to the Eagles' forward line.

"That's the hard part, keeping the position," Hill said.

"It's a tough gig, but everyone wants that spot and we're all going to fight for it pre-season. I think it's just going to motivate the boys to perform that one step better."

Friday, 7 September 2012
West Coast has signed forwards Josh Hill and Ashton Hams to new contracts.

"It was a good decision to come here at the end of last season and things could not be going much better," Hill said.

"It has all worked out pretty well for me and I'm excited about the finals. We are all focused on this big game and obviously we want to have a big impact in finals."

"It's great to get the opportunity to continue at the club," Hams said.

"I really want to be a part of this finals series and will do anything possible to get that chance. Everyone wants to be part of the big games and hopefully I can force my way back into the team."

Saturday, 18 February 2012
Ex-Bulldog and West Coast recruit Josh Hill is determined to fill the void left by injured All Australian Mark LeCras by making the most of his opportunities in the NAB Cup.

"I've been training and working on playing that half-forward role, so if the spot is there and I work hard to get it then I'll work hard to keep it," Hill said.

"Hopefully I perform this weekend and leading into the season."

Friday, 8 October 2010
Hawthorn remains keen on Western Bulldog Josh Hill but Hawks recruiter Chris Pelchen says a deal is still some way off.

"They are looking for a higher draft selection than we're willing to exchange," Pelchen said.

"It's just made it very, very difficult. They're outside the first [and] second rounds of the draft and they're trying to get back into that range and that's the range we're trying to stay in ourselves, so that's why the stalemate exists."

Thursday, 7 October 2010
Hawthorn list manager Chris Pelchen says Western Bulldogs forward Josh Hill has confirmed during the trade period that he wants to move to the Hawks.

"It's pleasing at least to have Josh's commitment that he wants to play at Hawthorn," Pelchen said.

"That's just transpired in the last couple of hours and we'll now push ahead in our negotiations with the aim to get Josh across the line."

Wednesday, 20 May 2009
Western Bulldogs forward Josh Hill says having other indigenous players at the club helped him settle in Melbourne.

"It's good to have that amount of Aboriginal boys there. We all feel comfortable around each other and get along," he said.

"The bond is pretty weird. When I first came over to Melbourne with Brennan, we knew each other before the draft so we felt comfortable with each other.

"We all connected in a way. We all get along really well and find the club a lot more comfortable having each other around."
