Simon Buckley Biography

Monday, 29 October 2012
Collingwood delists Cameron Wood, Simon Buckley, Kirk Ugle, Luke Rounds and Jonathon Ceglar as part of its list overhaul.

"All of the boys did what they could to give themselves a chance and they were good people to have around the club," Collingwood director of football Geoff Walsh said.

"People don't always see what sacrifices are made to try to forge an AFL career. We thank all of them for that effort and wish them well."

An injury-free pre-season may just be the tonic for Simon Buckley to force his way into a talent-laden Collingwood line-up.

"The goal was to get the fitness and strength up. It's been a couple of years but finally I have got the body right," he said.

"It's certainly better than it was this time last year when I played a couple of NAB Cup games and didn't get a kick."

Thursday, 13 May 2010
Collingwood has suspended Simon Buckley from selection for the next three games after he admitted vandalising his ex-girlfriend's car.

"As a member club of the AFL, the Collingwood Football Club fully supports the AFL's Respect and Responsibility policy, and insists that all its players adhere strictly to the standards of the program," a statement from the club read.

Wednesday, 16 December 2009
Magpie recruit Simon Buckley being drafted by Collingwood will help him overcome the injuries that ruined his 2009 season.

"The first and most important thing was getting back on the track and getting my hip right. Obviously, the Lexus Centre and Collingwood have state of the art facilities," he said.

"It's going to be best for my rehab and getting me back up and training, which was one of the biggest reasons why the decision was made for Collingwood."

Tuesday, 13 October 2009
Melbourne has delisted Simon Buckley and Shane Valenti as it prepares for a new batch of draftees.
