Jordan Russell Biography

Friday, 27 September 2013
Jordan Russell hopes to continue his career at another club after being told by the Magpies that his services are no longer required.

"They said you did everything you could do and it just did not work out. I guess that is how I felt. I tried and busted my arse for 10 or 11 months and just kept getting little niggly injuries that just cost me at bad times," Russell said.

Tuesday, 10 September 2013
Alan Didak and Andrew Krakouer join Darren Jolly and Jordan Russell as Magpie delistings.

Didak, in particular, says he is still keen to continue his career at another club.

"I've had an incredible time at Collingwood. We won a lot of games, won a premiership and I met some lifelong friends," Didak said.

"I've got a lot to be thankful for and I know I'm going to miss playing in front of the black and white army. I owe them a lot. But I'm not ready for retirement."

Port Adelaide says it won't try to sign Carlton free agent Jordan Russell, an unrestricted agent set to be delisted by the Blues.

"I think we've said all the way along that we'll consider at the end of trade week - he's going to be delisted by Carlton - so we're not going to be trading or doing anything active for him," Power football operations manager Peter Rohde said.

"We'll consider our position at the end of the trade period."

Friday, 7 September 2012
Carlton defender Jordan Russell informs the Blues that he will be testing the market as an unrestricted free agent during the off-season.

"It's just the time where Jordan needs to look for an opportunity where he can play senior footy consistently and Carlton aren't going to stand in his way," Russell's manager Marty Pask said.

"He wants to play that role as a rebounding defender, which he has obviously been pretty good at doing in the past finishing high up in the club's best and fairest count.

"We just want to make sure that he gets that opportunity and he's not going to get that at Carlton."

Tuesday, 18 January 2011
Carlton has expanded its leadership group to seven by adding Marc Murphy, Bryce Gibbs and Jordan Russell.

It's a pretty stronger indicator that you've got something to offer the group and I'm pretty proud of that. I'm looking forward to improving my leadership skills and qualities by being in the leadership group," Gibbs said.

"I think I can bring some experience, the past four or five years and 100 games now, so it's time to step up as a consistent contributor to the team - and I think some of my opinions will help with some of the younger guys coming through," Murphy added.

Tuesday, 11 May 2010
Jordan Russell accumulates 35 disposals and 14 marks in Carlton's thumping of the Saints.

"I feel really comfortable back there now with all the boys. It's good to play on someone and defend but also then get involved on the way out," Russell said of his role in the Blues' defence.

"All the six spots down there work together and share the load with each other which is really good."

Wednesday, 20 January 2010
Carlton defender Jordan Russell says players have put last year's off-field indiscretions and controversies behind them and have started to show impressive form on the track.

"We haven't forgotten about it but post-Christmas the players and coaches have all moved on. We are looking forward to our NAB Cup round one game against Sydney," Russell said.

Saturday, 8 August 2009
Carlton's Jordan Russell performs an excellent defensive job on Cat Steve Johnson, restricting the mercurial forward to just 13 possessions and no goals in the Blues' big win over Geelong.

"There were a couple of rumours going around before the game that he might miss out. I was really looking forward to the challenge. He's a gun player and he's shown that over the last couple of years. I was looking forward to the duel." Russell said.

"I've played up forward a fair bit in my time so it was nice to go back, do a job and help the side out."

Sunday, 10 May 2009
Carlton defender Jordan Russell thought he had pulled his side into a winning position against Fremantle, only for his kick on goal to be touched.

"It's been playing havoc in my mind. But as the coaches have told me, it's one incident out of hundreds in a match that you can look back on," Russell said.

"I kicked it into the man on the mark and it still went 50m so I was pretty shattered."

Friday, 27 March 2009
Midfielder Jordan Russell says Carlton is now focusing on the next round after their round 1 demolition of Richmond.
